Summary/Objective
The Systems Administrator will maintain, upgrade, and provide support for client’s software, hardware, and networks. The Systems Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and be available to respond to any potential help desk requests, possibly even after hours. The individual should be able to easily communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge, as well as work with individuals in all departments to help solve their technical issues. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for maintaining / monitoring the company infrastructure. This will include PC’s, Laptops, testing any new computer equipment, backing up servers / databases, installing / updating software, building new servers, as well as other processes.
Essential Functions

· Manage system infrastructure including physical servers, testing computer equipment and other software and hardware.
· Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
· Performs preventive maintenance for computer, data communication and/or peripheral equipment; tests and adjusts to appropriate standards.
· Ensures server backups and networked user backups are performed on a regular basis.
· Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and performance.
· Monitor the system daily and respond quickly to any usability concerns.
· Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system.
· Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
· Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection and assist in disaster recovery and failover procedures.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, vendors, and managers.
· Work on LAN/WAN installation projects and assist in strategic LAN/WAN planning.
· Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
· Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise and coordinate assigned service requests to meet requesting department dates within established department standards.
· Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, technical information to a wide variety of individuals and groups.

Work Environment
· This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
· This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are to include Monday through Friday with 8+ hour shifts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
· Minimal, and primarily local during the business day. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
· 2+ years’ experience as a system administrator.
· Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities.
· Strong knowledge and experience with VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory / GPO and Cisco.
· Working knowledge of backup software, systems and network monitoring software, hardware, and networking protocols.
· Knowledge of hardware and software installation, testing, and operation.
· Knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications.
· Knowledge of local area network concepts and fundamentals.
· Familiarity with Linux operating system.
· Ability to respond to requests after hours (minimal).

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
· Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must have clean background to obtain industry required Alarm Registrant Permit.
